It’s Earth Day, Are You Aware?

Have you noticed the Google logo for this day? How bad I am being not aware about important events and days to celebrate. This may be due to busy schedule in working and I fail to know what’s happening around. But for sure that I am not alone. I’m not the only person in this Earth who is not aware about celebrating the Earth Day. Yes, it is today an Earth Day! 22nd of April has been scheduled as the day to celebrate it.
Earth Day is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment. It is said that forty years after the first Earth Day, the world is in greater peril than ever. While climate change is the greatest challenge of our time, it also presents the greatest opportunity – an unprecedented opportunity to build a healthy, prosperous, clean energy economy now and for the future.
I don’t know if this out of awareness of me in celebrating the Earth Day 2010 is due to not highly published news or events here in our country. But I know there are groups and organizations which are doing their best to celebrate Earth Day as worth. There are campaigns being help to clean up the Philippines. As you can see, political campaigns are all around today, causing most of the attention which is meant for the Earth Day seems to capture. But although many of us are not aware on this Earth Day Celebration, it is still good to know that most people are doing their best to save our Mother Earth. By simply throwing your trash or waste into appropriate place, you can help out. Add this goal of using the three R’s which is reuse, reduce and recycle.
Earth Day can be a turning point to advance climate policy, energy efficiency, renewable energy and green jobs. It is said to be a pivotal opportunity for individuals, corporations and governments to join together and create a global green economy. You can begin to do some action at home by cleaning, planting trees at your garden or even segregating garbage from bio-degradable to non bio-degradable. Start it at home and let our Mother Earth stay clean and green!
